Interview with Ivana from LaIvana

Just after the new year I had a fruitful exchange of thoughts with Ivana. She writes her personal experience about personal development, lifestyle and living your dream life on her blog https://laivana.com/.

Ivana started writing about self improvement right after college. She has traveled 12 countries and is a strong believer in the law of attraction.

She is the author of the book ‘100 Steps Closer’ which covers motivation, journal prompts, affirmations along with the steps you can take to lead your dream life. You can purchase the book here.

The interview:

Maxim: Tell us about your blog. What made you start writing about Self Improvement?

Ivana: La Ivana is all about creating your own version of dream life and going after it. After reading heaps of self-improvement books, finding a lot of YouTube channels in that niche and realizing how much it had changed my life, I felt called to share my experiences and lessons with others.

We’re not taught how to love and accept ourselves, how to realize who we want to be and use our full potential. Once I started learning about those things, it made me share my own journey with others with the intention that it inspires someone else to start their own self-improvement journey.

Maxim: Tell us about your personal journey in self improvement. Give us some examples of how you improve yourself regularly.

Ivana: As I’ve said, I learned a lot from books and other people who shared their own experiences. One of the easiest ways to make sure I’m continuously improving what I do is by doing weekly and monthly reviews. That way I can see if I’m on track with my goals and what needs to be improved. As they say, what can be measured, can be improved.

Maxim: Among all the articles you have written, which one is your favorite? Why?

Ivana:

If I had to choose one, I’d say the one about finding ourselves would be my favorite. I wrote it about a year and a half ago, and to this day I still get comments and messages on how helpful it is. A lot of people struggle with finding themselves, trying to fit in this timeline that others have decided is the ‘’right’’ one. You know, go to college, find a job, get married, have kids, and then apply the same timeline to them.

However, what I encourage everyone to do is to create their individual and unique timeline based on their own vision of success and happiness.
We’re all different, and instead of finding ourselves in this world, we have to create ourselves.

With that article, I reminded people to dig deeper and ask themselves who they want to be, without attaching any labels. I reminded them that they have all the power to create the best version of themselves and that they should make themselves a priority and start living a life they are excited about.

Maxim: Self improvement has various aspects. However, if you had to give only one single piece of advice to your readers, what would it be?

Ivana: Create your own version of dream life and go after it.

Maxim: What advice would you give to a young person just starting his/her journey of self improvement?

Ivana: Take action on what you learn. Just reading the advice is not enough. If you want to change your life, you have to take action.

Maxim: If you had a time machine that sent you 10 years back in time, what self improvement advice would you give yourself?

Ivana: Ask yourself why do you feel the need to react to everything. Try letting go instead of reacting and see how it feels.

Maxim: How has your blogging and writing influenced and transformed you? Do you think you have changed as a person since you started blogging?

Ivana: I started blogging in January 2018. I have definitely learned a lot about patience and courage. I always thought of myself as an extremely impatient person. However, when you start a blog and don’t see any results for months, but you’re still determined to keep going, you realize that you actually are patient.

Also, it has taught me a lot about courage. Many times I had to ignore what felt comfortable and familiar, and jump head-on into what was actually meant for me.
What I mean by that is quitting my 9-to-5 purely based on believing that I’m meant for something more. Building my business with zero knowledge of how to do anything. Basically, believing that everything will turn out fine.

And it did. In 2019, I became a full-time blogger, started my own business, spent a few months as a digital nomad, and actually lived my dream life.

The moral of the story is, do what you love and success will inevitably follow.

Maxim: What makes you happiest as a blogger?

Ivana: Creating a community of amazing women willing to go after the dream life they deserve makes me really happy and motivated to keep going. Receiving comments, messages, and emails from my readers telling me how my content helped and inspired them is definitely my favorite part of being a blogger since my intention is exactly that; to inspire them to improve their life.

Maxim: Who are the other self improvement bloggers that you’re a fan of?

Ivana: I don’t really consume self-improvement material from blogs, I prefer books in that niche. I always recommend Eckhart Tolle for learning about self-improvement.

Maxim: Where can the readers contact you?

Ivana: People can reach me on Instagram or send me an email at info@laivana.com

Maxim: Thanks a lot Ivana. It was wonderful knowing your thoughts. All the best on your future as a blogger and an author.
