Recently I exchanged some thoughts with Wendy Tomlinson. Not only is wendy a blogger but also a certified life coach. She has run online coaching for 7 years. Wendy is also a Law of Attraction and EFT Master Practitioner. She is trained to help people with everyday life skills.

Maxim: Tell us about your blog. What made you start writing about Self Improvement?
I’m a qualified Life Coach, Law of Attraction Practitioner and EFT Master Practitioner. I used to blog now and then as part of my coaching practice. I’d always had a passion for writing and in 2017 I stopped coaching to be a full-time blogger.
I love that my posts get read by so many people all around the world and I always encourage people to ask for specific support. This feels like a very natural way for me to help people. A lot of people questioned me when I stopped coaching but I feel I now help more people than ever before.
Maxim: Tell us about your personal journey in self improvement. Give us some examples of how you improve yourself regularly.
I took my life coach training shortly after my dad died. It was a real turning point and it made me really look at my life and I knew I wanted to focus on feeling good about myself and about my life and then share what I was learning with others. I never want anyone to not like themselves or their life. After the training, I had learned so much but I still felt like something was missing.
My law of attraction training gave me answers. I used everything I learned in my training and tried to apply it in my own life as well as work out how I could help others to use it. I’m a very practical person. I like to keep things really simple. I find many people over complicate things like the law of attraction and self help in general. I try to create easy and practical exercises that people can use in their life straight away.
I always try to follow my own advice and have tried to create what I call a law of attraction lifestyle for myself.
My life has changed in so many ways since I started my own law of attraction journey. I went from not really liking myself very much and not liking my life to being someone that I really like and loving my life. I’m not one of those people who created a millionaire lifestyle. I focus more on creating a life that makes me happy every day in small ways.
I love sharing EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) scripts on the blog to give my readers ideas about how they can use it in their own life. It’s a simple technique and so easy to learn. To give you an example of how EFT has helped me, I’m naturally a worrier and have been prone to lots of stress over the years. Doing regular EFT tapping really helps me to lower my stress levels and help me deal with worrying situations. I use it to help with my health, fears, I also use it to help me achieve goals in my business and life. It helps to clear energy blocks and raise my vibrations.
Maxim: Among all the articles you have written, which one is your favorite? Why?
Ooh, what an interesting question. That’s a really hard one to choose. I think it would be this one Law of attraction to feel better about yourself. It’s such a personal thing for me because it was the thing I needed the most when I first learned about the law of attraction and ultimately, when we feel good about ourselves it becomes so much easier to create the life you want.
Maxim: Self improvement has various aspects. However, if you had to give only one single piece of advice to your readers, what would it be?
Learn to love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, it’s hard to really love any other part of your life fully.
Maxim: What advice would you give to a young person just starting his/her journey of self improvement?
Embrace who you are. You don’t have to have your entire life planned out. Focus on the kind of person you want to be and never let anyone tell you that you can’t create the life you want for yourself.
Maxim: If you had a time machine that sent you 10 years back in time, what self improvement advice would you give yourself?
10 years ago my life had just completely changed and I had just become a single mum, I’d been living abroad and had moved country with my son to be close to my family. I had no money and nowhere to live. Well, I lived with my mum for several months and then managed to rent a house which I filled with borrowed and unwanted furniture. If I could go back 10 years I would say, trust yourself, you can do this and everything will work out fine.
Maxim: How has your blogging and writing influenced and transformed you? Do you think you have changed as a person since you started blogging?
I’ve been blogging for many years now, mostly to support my coaching business initially but I now have 3 blogs that I work on full-time. Since becoming a full-time blogger in 2017, I feel like I am doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing. It changes me all the time because as I share advice with readers I also take in that advice myself.
Also, people will ask me about things and I’ll think about a blog post I could write to help them and it pushes me to think outside of what’s going on in my own life and this helps me to constantly improve. For example, I asked my readers if they had a word of the year and one of the words someone chose was joy. I ended up creating 3 posts which all connected to help my readers and myself focus on creating a more joyful life. This is beneficial for everyone.
Maxim: What makes you happiest as a blogger?
Time freedom and creative freedom. I hate having to do things at a specific time. Now, as long as I put the hours in, I can work when it suits me. I also love being able to write in the way I want without rules.
I feel this is the best way I can help others. I also love checking my page views and things like how many return visitors I’ve had. I love seeing how many people are taking the time to read my posts and I’m always hoping they get value from it. I love it when they let me know they’ve found something helpful. That really makes my day.
Maxim: Who are the other self improvement bloggers that you’re a fan of?
I don’t tend to read many self-improvement blogs, to be honest. I tend to read about other things such as how to blog better, get more traffic, etc. I like to listen to a podcast at bedtime when I’m often tired and don’t want to read. I love The Minimalists because I love simplifying my life, Wander wealthy which is mostly business-related and anything by Hayhouse, I like learning about the angels and I’m currently enjoying learning from Radleigh Valentine.
